Welcome to the new home (which is actually the old home!) of Northern Lights!—an Mormon community blog where Latter-day Saints of diverse experiences and perspectives openly exploring the intersections of sexuality, gender, identity, faith, and family within the framework of commitment to the doctrines and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Northern Lights, it’s the official blog of North Star International and was created in 2007 by several established bloggers who are believing members of the Church. After once being housed at its own website, LDSLights.org, it was subsequently pulled into the North Star website. With a new North Star website redesign coming January 1st, the Northern Lights blog will again be making its home at LDSLights.org.
Northern Lights is ultimately the “community voice” of believing Latter-day Saints who have first-hand experience with issues surrounding homosexuality or gender dysphoria/transgenderism, whether that be personally or as spouses, parents, or other family members and friends, and who wish to openly explore and discuss topics and issues of interest to the LDS community.
In addition to several resident bloggers, we also invite guest posts from you who have something to say about any of the many different angles and conversations we can and should be having about sexuality and gender. There are many different experiences and perspectives out there–sometimes even opposing perspectives–that are all consistent with the established doctrines of the Church. We welcome these perspectives and invite you to submit guest posts.
We would love to have you join the conversation with us, and you can do so three ways:
We also encourage you to sign up for daily or weekly updates of new posts on the right sidebar of either the blog homepage or of each post.
Welcome to the conversation!
