“I’m so excited for you - but what does it mean to be undetectable?” is the question I get the most and I do not mind at all explaining what HIV/AIDS is and why being undetectable is so important.

So, please indulge me as I layout the basics of HIV/AIDS or the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. HIV is the virus that leads to AIDS and AIDS is a diagnosis given to those with HIV that have a high viral load count, a T-Cell count under 200 and/or an opportunistic infection - an infection that only those with severely compromised immune systems generally get.

Distinctions

After my presentation in my friend’s Relief Society, I asked her if she had any further comments.  She did, and they were all positive.  I felt pretty good about things.  Then an older woman from her ward called me and told me I would fit perfectly in an organization she’s part of.  I was interested.  I wanted to hear more.

Report

Posted on August 9th, 2009 by Kim Mack

This is a cross post from my own blog, How I Deal.

Sorry for the delay in reporting. Once I was done with my pneumonia, I broke out in hives due to the antibiotic. Spent about 3 days in misery.

But the Relief Society lesson in my roommate’s mom’s ward - the one I gave about SSA and the Atonement - it was indescribable.

2009 North Star Couple’s Summit

Posted on August 2nd, 2009 by North Star

In the past, North Star International has not officially sponsored any activities but only referred people to activities that we believe, to the best of our knowledge, to be in harmony with our mission and values.

We have recently decided, on a provisional basis, to begin officially sponsoring certain activities. The 2009 Couple’s Summit is an event that North Star has decided to officially sponsor, albeit on a trial basis.

North Star invites all married and engaged couples to this day-long event. Registration can be accessed via the homepage of the North Star website, in the area usually reserved for the Feature piece, or go directly to the Couple’s Summit page. The summit will be focusing on communication, self confidence, self worth, trust, teamwork, decision making, problem solving, and leadership.

Sincerely,

The North Star Executive Committee
