There’s Something About Math

I am not a mathematical genius by any means, but I do like math. As a software engineer who wrote programs for energy conservation audits, I had to know it fairly well. Thankfully, the HVAC engineers did the calculations. I just converted them to the programming language we used.

It seems like most people hate math. At the college I attended, a lot of students have panic attacks about taking the required math courses. My best friend put it off until the last semester.

We are all beautiful people

The phrase “we are all beautiful people” takes me back to 2001 and the for stars album of the same name. The album is mostly ghostly and ethereal, yet at times deep and rich. And despite those stark contrasts, each song is beautiful for remarkably different reasons. The same is true of people.

The Night It All Changed

If you had known me twenty years ago, you would have known a very different man. I was a young married father with five children. I had just ended a relationship with a man that wasn’t sexual, but was filled with unhealthy attachment. People were getting laid off at work. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to get laid off or be the last one out the door when the business closed down.
